Mission Statement
Slightly Askew is devoted to art work and education that explores the exchange between cultures, and that celebrates transition – of self, aesthetic, life, and the world as we know it – to push toward something unknown, unexplored and unfathomed . In a world where technology has opened up so many possibilities for cross cultural communication it is surprising how we remain ignorant of the world outside of ourselves. Performance and art offer the unique opportunity to bring multiple cultures into conversation, provoke questions of cultural identity, and reveal the metamorphosis of unheard or stifled voices within our own cultures, communities and self identities.
