During October of 2007 and April in 2008 The NY-Boston Conspiracy will be in action. The NY-Boston Conspiracy is all about teaching kids how to use their bodies in movement and and music to respond to current events in the neighborhood they live in. For example, the kids learned how to create a physical and musical reaction using their bodies as instruments and images to respond to the increase in number of shootings that have plagued the neighborhood recently. The South Street Youth Center has graciously supported SLIGHTLYaskew in teaching these workshops. The South Street Youth Center is located at the South Street Development (a Boston Housing Authority development) in Jamaica Plain. It is a small, grassroots program born out of resident activism. Through many permutations, the Youth Center remains a focus for community collaboration and youth creativity. Regular afterschool programs run from 3-6 p.m., Monday through Thursday, with Middle School Programs on alternating Fridays.
